ABOUT US

Who We Are

Welcome to the National Anglican Clergy Spouses Association (NASCA), where faith, fellowship, and service unite to form a community like no other. Established in 1978 in Accra, Ghana, NASCA has been a steadfast presence in the lives of clergy spouses, providing support, camaraderie, and a shared journey through the joys and challenges of life in the clergy.

Our Origin

The journey began with the visionary leadership of the late Most Rev. Ishmael Samuel Mills Le Maire, then Archbishop of the Church of the Province of West Africa and Bishop of Accra. In the latter part of 1978, the seeds of NASCA were planted, and under the guidance of Executive Officers like the Late Mother Ashietey, Mother Dora Dadson, Mother Abigail Ocquaye, and Mother Grace Quarcoopome, our association took root.

Our Aims & Objectives

Period of Transformation

The early ’80s brought about a period of change for the Anglican community in Ghana. Dioceses were carved out, and the landscape shifted. Despite the challenges, in 1992, a pivotal conference organized by the late Mother Juliana Okine breathed new life into NASCA, setting the stage for reorganization and revitalization.

National Association with Purpose

The year 1996 marked a turning point for NASCA. Decisions made during the Akosombo Conference laid the foundation for the association to function as a National Association, complete with a constitution and a distinctive National Attire. The commitment to growth was evident as even the Spouses of Bishops stepped aside, allowing elected leaders to guide NASCA into the future.

Grace, Love & Peace

Biennial Conferences and Beyond

Since 1997, NASCA has been organizing National Conferences biennially, bringing together spouses from dioceses across the country. From the impressive turnout in Tamale to the memorable 8th Biennial Conference in Bunso, each event has been a testament to the strength and unity of our association.

Visionary Leadership

Our association has been blessed with visionary leaders who have steered NASCA through various seasons. From Mother Evelyn Lamptey’s groundbreaking tenure as the first non-bishop spouse National President to Mother Anne Osei’s impactful leadership, we continue to evolve.

Current Leadership

Under the stewardship of Mother Sarah Bernice Eyison, NASCA is embracing innovation and progress. The gift of a large parcel of land at the Anglican Technical University for a hostel facility stands as a testament to the association’s commitment to growth and service.

Our Divine Calling

As an association guided by a vision of fulfilling our divine calling through words of scripture, prayers, and social evangelism, NASCA continues to seek God’s guidance and blessings. We invite you to join us in this extraordinary journey of faith, support, and service.

Thank you for being a part of the NASCA family, where every story, every challenge, and every triumph is shared and celebrated. Together, let us continue to make a positive impact within our communities and beyond.
